Search issues (no results, slow, wrong products)
Search quality depends on product titles, tags/types, availability, and index behavior.
If search feels "off", it's usually because of product data, index timing, or settings.
Checklist
- Are products available to the sales channel (Online Store)?
- Are you searching for a SKU that isn't included in storefront search?
- Are product titles too generic (e.g. "T-Shirt" for dozens of items)?
- Are key terms present in:
- title
- description
- product type / tags (carefully)
Predictive search vs full results
If predictive search suggestions look wrong but the results page is right (or vice versa), confirm:
- you're editing the correct template/section
- your theme settings for search are consistent
Why search can feel slow
- too many scripts loading early (popups, tracking, heavy apps)
- large images or heavy headers blocking interaction
- third-party search apps with extra requests
Best practice for better search
- use clear product titles ("Brand + Model + Key attribute")
- standardise product types
- avoid tag chaos
- keep your top navigation and collection structure strong (so users don't rely on search alone)
