Cart drawer issues (won't open, won't update, looks broken)
Most cart drawer problems are app conflicts, script errors, or duplicate cart components.
Cart drawers are interactive, so issues are usually caused by JavaScript errors, app interference, or duplicate cart UI.
Quick isolation steps (fastest path)
- Duplicate your theme and test there.
- Disable or remove cart-related app blocks temporarily (upsells, shipping bars, free gift apps).
- Open your browser console and check for JS errors.
- Test with a default product template and default cart settings.
Common causes
- An app injects a second cart drawer or overrides cart endpoints.
- A tracking/popup script blocks scrolling or intercepts clicks.
- You have both "cart page" and "cart drawer" patterns active in conflicting ways.
Symptoms and likely causes
- Drawer opens but doesn't update: cart AJAX requests are failing or blocked.
- Drawer never opens: click handlers are overridden or JS errors stop initialization.
- Drawer looks unstyled: CSS isn't loading or was overridden by custom CSS.
Best practice
Keep cart customizations minimal. If you need an upsell app:
- use app blocks where possible
- avoid apps that require heavy theme code edits
