Where should I put custom CSS?

Add styling changes in the safest place so updates stay manageable.

The safest place is wherever your theme expects "custom CSS", because it's designed to survive typical edits.

  • Use the theme's Custom CSS field/section if provided.
  • If not, use a dedicated custom CSS file that's clearly named and documented.

What to avoid

  • Editing core theme CSS files line-by-line without notes
  • Using !important everywhere (it becomes unmaintainable)

Best practice

Keep CSS changes scoped and comment your intent (what you're changing and why).
