Theme updates are easiest when you treat them like a controlled release.

Safe update workflow

1. Duplicate your live theme (keep a rollback).
2. Add the new theme version as an unpublished theme.
3. Compare key templates:
   • header/footer
   • product
   • collection
   • cart
4. Reapply settings and blocks carefully.
5. Test end-to-end (mobile + desktop).
6. Publish when validated.

Pro tip

Keep a lightweight "theme changes log" so you know what was custom vs default.
